E’TAE is a natural hair care product company that manufactures hair products that have the ability to beautify all hair types.   The line consist of a shampoo, conditioner, hair gloss and treatment that will soften, strengthen and improve your texture,  add a natural shine, encourage growth and manage your hair in order to eliminate chemicals.  The products are “Sulfate Free” and contains over 20 natural ingredients such as honey, molasses, aloe, flaxseed and more. While using the products they can restore your beautiful unknown texture that may have been hidden for years due to the use of chemicals.

What motivated you to open your own business?

While in high school, my trade was cosmetology and after graduating I later opened a salon where I used chemical relaxers to manage my clients hair including myself.  Once giving birth to my daughter in 1996 I had struggles managing her hair.  After her 4th birthday I was determined to gain control of her thick, course, unruly hair but I wasn’t going to use any chemicals.  It was a coincidence that I was studying natural ingredients during these times.  So I made a treatment for her hair (“The Original Carmel Treatment”) and it did wonders! I began using it on my clients and when they fell in love with their newly textured soft, shiny manageable hair, I was then forced to start the company.

How did you develop your concept?

I developed my concept based on day to day experiences, mistakes, ideas, and working hands on with my daughters and women in need of healthy hair.

How much capital did you need to get started? Did you use any creative funding sources?

It’s hard to tell because I used my own money from my hair sales to get started and I took steps one day at a time.

How do you market your business? Do you use any creative marketing strategies?

I market my business online, working as a hair stylist in my salon using E’TAE Products only, and passing out brochures.

  1. Lakisha, I sooo need to do something different with my hair because it’s falling out and I love my hair–it’s my glory. I really like how your discovery of the product unfolded. I can’t wait to try your product!

  2. Lakisha,

I began letting my relaxer grow out about 5 months and boy is it going through the process. I would love to try your products out and also visit your salaon since you specialize in natural hair care. Are you taking any new clients?

    • Elaine, I know what you’re going through right now. I grew my relaxer out a few years ago and it was rough! But it was so worth it! I’ve heard many great things about the Caramel Treatment and I want to try some, too. Hopefully, Lakisha can hook your hair up!
